The Landers/Big Bear Earthquake sequence

Below are a series of maps showing how the sequence of aftershocks decreased over the five week period that followed the initial Landers M7.6 event. The earthquake location data come from the data archive of the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC).

What is interesting to note is the percentage decrease in detectable earthquake activity and the change in geographical pattern and depth distribution. For comparison, look at the Hector Mine aftershock sequence too.
